The Glenn Miller Orchestra

Glenn Miller was already an idol even in his day and with this new program “The History Of Big Bands”, his own unique sound is brought to life again.

Wil Salden and his excellent team of professional musicians, performing in the traditional Big Band arrangement, play the Glenn Miller sound to perfection. Apart from instrumental titles, the band singer, Ellen Bliek commemorates wonderful melodies of the Swing era. A special highlight is the Moonlight Serenaders, the Close Harmony Group with Ellen Bliek, who adds special charm to the program.

Homage paid to other bandleaders with their typical compositions, like Count Basie, Harry James and Ray Anthony round up the contents. Even Ella Fitzgerald is remembered, who was the best vocalist of all times.
The main emphasis is on unforgettable melodies of the Big Band era of the Forties. His experienced team of musicians can really spice up the melodies, which you can be distinctly hear in their concerts. That’s why, this new concert program “The History Of Big Bands” with its lively, rhythmic selection, making you want to swing and let your imagination be whisked away to romantic love scenes, is a tribute to all Big Bandleaders, as well as male and female vocalists of the Forties.

Wil Salden has combined all the titles in his new program and some classics of Glenn Miller to produce an entertaining 2-hour concert.
